Project Six – Thesis Work: Becoming; Customisation Of Comfort Within Furniture

I propose to produce furniture that explores physical experience encapsulated in comfort through psychological (mind) and physiological (body) influence. Exploring the phenomenological experience through Grosz’s statement ‘becoming’. Contemporary designer Hella Jongerius influences my development through ‘intimate, domestic, moments’ expressed within her furniture. I plan to experiment with “think[ing] as doing” with new materials to produce a piece of furniture that comfortably inhabits one individual exploring the notions of body spatially inhabiting furniture.
