Project Seven – Major Project, “Tots Wood-Lots”
“Tots wood-lots” is the exploration into childrens furniture investigating notions of play, growth and lifestyle that accompanies children on a journey through their childhood.
At the beginning of this project I proposed myself a brief, this being.. To explore the lifestyle and growth of a child from the ages of 2-12 (a span of 10yrs). Investigating notions of play, interaction with objects, detail and the psychological and physiological influences’ one has with furniture. I plan to produce a piece of furniture that grows and evolves with a child, creating a spatial environment, which allows the child to dissociate one from bigger surroundings. Considering simple adaptable furniture capable of quick transformation supporting and encapsulating comfort for physical and emotional needs throughout the 10yr period.
From breaking this down I realized It was not just a singular object I was making but more a toy for the child with several objects that they can create what ever they like from it. way like Lego blocks.

So I see this design as a spaio-temporal environment for a child to play with and inhabit within, creating space to dissociate from bigger surroundings. This will help children learn about the world they inhabit through weight, colour shape, patterns and functionality. It is important to understand the way children learn through playing and how furniture can have so many possibilities for a child and can act as a micro architectural environment to be inhabited. To quote Johannes Schwartz “ The children follow severe rules in building these spaces , about what is good, tasteful and stylish.”
This object grows and evolves with a child starting off as small blocks which are then joined together to make a bigger block and so on, it has endless opportunities for endless amount of fun.
I propose to produce furniture that explores physical experience encapsulated in comfort through psychological (mind) and physiological (body) influence. Exploring the phenomenological experience through Grosz’s statement ‘becoming’. Contemporary designer Hella Jongerius influences my development through ‘intimate, domestic, moments’ expressed within her furniture. I plan to experiment with “think[ing] as doing” with new materials to produce a piece of furniture that comfortably inhabits one individual exploring the notions of body spatially inhabiting furniture.

Project Five – Sustainable Living
This building was designed for a sustainability project. The building performs in a sustainable way through water waste management, environmental green use, temperature control, and recyclable materials.
The building acts as a housing ‘apartment’ for a couple looking to stay in Wellington, the ‘apartment’ is located on Wellington’s waterfront.

Project Four – MT Kaukau, Crate design
For this project I had to create a website, unfortunately I have yet to purchase a domain name and server so this work cannot be shown as of yet. Stay posted because it will not be too far away. Thanks Cayla
Project Three – Interval House

Project Two – Library Design
Based on the book Hansel and Gretel this fit out was designed for the Old Museum building situated in Mt Cook Wellington. Which is currently serving as Massey University. This Library design was to portray the idea of confusion within this building the idea was to have these ramps intertwining with each other that are transparent so other people could be viewed throughout the whole building. Bookshelves follow the ramps throughout the building.
Ramps are made from steel trusses covered in Transparent acrylic and illumined with LED spot lights.

Project One – Hybrid Furniture
I had to create a piece of hybrid furniture. here is the design brief compacted into a few bullet points:
- Design a multi-functional table that is equipped with
the interior of a bed-sit from the Arlington Apartments.
- Table should bring a couple together in a intimate
and provocative manner.
- The idea is to have just the table alone in the space but
Should have all the equipment needed in a bed-sit in it
